Pre order for chickens

I am taking pre-orders for my meat chickens! They will be ready to go in mid May and I can deliver them to you or you can pick up at the homestead here in Munith, MI.

Our chickens come from local Michigan hatchery. We get Freedom Rangers as they are a happy middle between old fashioned chickens that take 6 months to grow out and commercial chickens that take 6 weeks to grow out. I was looking for something in between for my family and we've been very happy with Freedom Rangers.

The birds spend 12 weeks outside, traveling through our property. You can see where they have been by bright green grass that comes in shortly after they leave. I move their little coop and fencing every day or so. We start off with every other day when they are little and progress to every day and even twice a day as they get big. I'm trying to balance giving them a happy life exploring and managing the pasture responsibly. So far this system has been working great for us!

Of course, chickens need more food than just what they find on the pasture, specially meat chickens. I found this really awesome food for them from New Country Organics. Not only it’s organic and soy free, but they follow Weston Price principles too. Win all around!

We also find the meat to be absolutely delicious! It is tasty and easy to roast. Roasted whole chicken is our favorite and it always comes out tender, even if the chicken is close to 6 pounds.

This is the first time I'm making the chicken available to purchase. I will be taking about 20 of them to a state certified facility for processing. I'm currently raising 30 of them and that seems like a good number for the size of the fence they are in. This is your chance to reserve some of those 20 birds!

Whole chickens only at this time. They should come to between 4.5 and 5.5 pounds.

Cost per pound is $6.

Your deposit is $10 per chicken.
